Prepaid International Forum (PIF) is a not-for-profit trade association established to represent all parties participating on a commercial basis in the prepaid economy. It is dedicated to the progression of prepaid commerce around the world and acts as principal point of liaison between the prepaid economy and government agencies, regulators, consumer bodies and the media. It is focused on the entire prepaid world and facilitates the development of cross- industry guidelines and codes of practice. Through its working groups PIF aims to: • | Develop guiding principles and best practices for profitable and ethical participation in the prepaid economy – and always guided by consumer needs | • | Be a catalyst for the creation of international standards that promote cross-border expansion of prepaid commerce | • | Provide a voice for the cross-industry prepaid sector to speak to national and international regulatory and governmental bodies | • | Generate and maintain dialogue with other organisations that touch the prepaid sector | • | Provide research and thought leadership to participants in the prepaid economy | • | Provide a forum for members to consider and address evolving challenges for the prepaid economy – including, for example KYC (Know Your Customer), information privacy and consumer protection |
In all of its activities PIF aims to be: • | Inclusive, rather than exclusive | • | Focused on the entire prepaid world, not just cards; and | • | When it comes to cards, to be focused on both closed- and open-loop systems |
PIF is not: • | An exclusive club, or | • | Seeking to restrict competition in any way | • | Setting out to be prescriptive, but rather to facilitate the development of sensible industry guidelines and codes of good practice | | | | | | |
